Alexandra Afonskaia
Sasha’s artistic practice spans a wide range of media. Trained in both classical and contemporary techniques, she creates large-scale paintings in acrylic and oil, while also working with watercolour, monotype, and etching.
Her creative process is deeply intuitive and emotionally driven. Each work emerges from an immersion in personal experience: an ongoing response to shifting environments, places, and states of mind.
Rather than working from direct observation, Afonskaia draws exclusively from her inner world. She does not rely on traditional subjects such as portraiture or landscape; instead, she positions herself as both subject and source.
Her works range from intense and dramatic to subtle and contemplative, often evoking the sensation of inner landscapes or psychological states illuminated by a quiet, persistent light. These paintings function as introspective studies, at once personal and universal, reflecting an ongoing search without predetermined direction.
